This September, over 50 artists including Charles Avery, Tracey Emin, Ryan Gander, Mona Hatoum, Susan Hiller, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, and Yinka Shonibare MBE, generously donated their work to help DACS Foundation raise money for its funding initiatives and public programme.
Artworks were auctioned by Christie’s and Paddle8 and generated £90,000. These proceeds will fund forthcoming activities dedicated to supporting artists and artists’ estates in the UK, in three main areas:
- legacy planning and archive management initiatives
- education activities aimed at helping artists to safeguard their rights and the integrity of their practice
- an on-going programme of debates, symposia and publications that will engage a public discourse on the value of artists to society.
The monies generated through the auction make a vital addition to the support already pledged for DACS Foundation from the Art Fund, The National Archives, The Henry Moore Foundation and Arts Council England.

DACS Foundation was established with the help of DACS to offer vital grass-roots support for artists and artists’ estates in the UK. Through grants, education and public programmes, it will help artists to produce and exhibit new work, protect their cultural legacy, and make their work more accessible to the public.
