Hull-born artist Richard Parry was in conversation with Mark Waugh, Head of Research and Innovation at DACS and leading DACS Foundation’s Art360 legacy project, to talk about artists’ archives and his first-hand experience of tracing Hull’s post-war jazz scene from Paul Burwell to COUM transmissions.

Guests visited the former site of Paul Burwell’s Boathouse – an avant-garde hangout for artists and musicians in Hull during the early to mid-2000s. The group was joined by Anne Bean, who was part of the Bow Gamelan Ensemble, formed by Paul Burwell in 1983.

The event took place in Hull on 23 March 2017, and was organised as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017.
